As a non-profit organisation we serve the community by providing medical appliances, support and advice to members, their families and carers. Our members a have a stoma which is an opening formed on the skin where part of the digestive system empties. This maybe a result of birth defects, cancer, accident or disease. It may be permanent or temporary. Our members range in age from new born to over 100 years. There are approximately 44,000 Ostomates (people with a stoma) in Australia of which 2,300 are our members.

The Department of Health is seeking feedback from ostomates and other stakeholders on access to products under the Stoma Appliance Scheme. The feedback provided will support potential improvements to ensure ostomates continue to have access to the products and the support services they need to manage their stoma. The Management Committee of Ostomy Association of South Australia would like to invite all our members to attend our annual AGM. Come visit and meet your committee that keep the wheels turning and manages all aspects of your Association, meet other members, mingle and have a chat and some afternoon tea.
The Association is run by Ostomates for Ostomates on a voluntary basis and are dedicated to making our association successful and compliant with all aspects of The Stoma Appliance Scheme. After a very turbulent year of a Federal Department of Health investigation and Federal Auditors coming through, we can now walk tall and be proud of OUR association. All the new procedures that had to be put in place to become compliant are to the benefit of all members. Our NEW staff, are up to date with all new policies and procedures that have been implemented and are following the Guide Lines of the Stoma Appliance Scheme to the letter.
We, the OASA committee, would love to see and meet as many of our members and have a cuppa and a chat.

188.8.131.52 of our New Constitution states “not greater than (5) Directors being elected by members at the Annual General Meeting.
Your vote is for the Executive as a collective and not for individuals. Have your vote for your Executive who has worked hard to weather the storms of the last 12 months and they will continue to do so if re-elected.
Our Management Committee will be re-structured in accordance with our New Constitution that was voted on at the last AGM and lodged with Business and Consumers Affairs soon after.
It will be set up as;
5 Executive Directors to be elected by the members
4 Directors to be appointed by the Executive for their skill set.
